The goal IFAS3 school is to bring together students from different horizons, expose them to high level specilized lectures, and propose them to carry-on a eight days research project. The topic of the present school is spectroscopy and polarimetry.

The school is open to pre-to-post doctoral students, and possibly to academics. It will be hosted by the Inter University Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) in Pune, India. It is co-organized by the Centre de Recherche Astrophysique de Lyon (CRAL, CNRS UMR5574, UCBL).

IFAS3 is the third Indo-French Astronomical School jointly organized by CRAL-Observatoire de Lyon and IUCAA. The first school, was held at Pune (India) in November 2015, and was on Observational Spectroscopy, and the second one was held at Lyon in July 2016 was on Modeling and Simulations for Galaxies Formation.

CRAL has a cutting edge expertise both in cosmology and physics of galaxies. IUCAA is coordinating major efforts to develop theoretical and observational astronomy in India.

Four lectures will be given during the morning sessions, and research projects will be proposed to the participants, in small groups supported by a tutor. The school will be concluded by a presentation of the results of these projects.

Up to 30 participants will be selected. The applications are open from master to postdoctoral levels, and to academics. The organizers will provide partial or full financial support on demand and justification.

Registration, support and deadline

The registrations will be open from 2017 Jan 2nd till March 31th. Early applications are an advantage if a grant is requested.

The registration fees are INR 25000 (less than 350 €). The school can offer a partial or full financial support to those justifying it. The support may take the form of reduced fees, fees waiver, and, in a limited number of cases, of providing plane tickets.

 The registration process is the following:
